Social & Kids Klub

Coordinator - Kris Plumb

Link runs activities for several groups during the school term that are active on the Coast.  Groups are comprised of young people aged 6 to 21 years.

These Klubs have been developed to help establish positive social networks between children/young people with a disability and their local communities, as well as giving families a break.  The Klubs participate in community based activities such as the movies, Ten Pin Bowling, Arts, Drama, Dancing, Movies, Fishing, Canoeing, Bush Walking & other outdoor activities.  Typically group activities commence at 9am and end at 3pm on the weekend.

To access the program families are required to complete a Needs Assessment Form and to demonstrate that they are not receiving support from any service other than Post School Options.

There is currently a waiting list for this program.  To be placed on the waitlist for the program, please tick the waitlist box for Social Klub on the Family Expression of Interest form or if you are already registered with the service, contact the Social Klub coordinator.  When a vacancy becomes available families will be offered a place on the basis of highest need.

Eligibility is based on these criteria:

  • have son or daughter living with them who is aged between 6 and 21. While young people must enter the program before they are 19 they may continue to participate until they turn 21.
  • are not already receiving ongoing or recurrent funding from any other source for respite or similar support.
  • have a son or daughter who is likely to have a high need for support over the long term.
  • meet the other eligibility criteria.

There are waitlists for three separate areas; Maroochydore (encompassing Nambour), Noosa and Caloundra.

Waitlists are reviewed bi-annually, after which time you will be advised of the expected intake timeframe.
